Mile High Outdoor was founded in 1996 and owns over 400 billboard faces in the Denver Metro area and the state of Colorado.   Business Times and Watchfire have written about the company’s digital sign installations.  Mile High President Steve Richards serves on the OAAA Board and is Chair of the Legislative Committee.  Richards is also a Partner in Pacific Outdoor.  Marcus Danneil is VP/General Manager.  Billboard Insider talked with Richards.

How did you enter the outdoor business.

Tell us about your plant.

Mile High owns and operates Bulletins and Digital Bulletins throughout Metro Denver and around the State of Colorado. Our Digital Bulletin Network of 14 displays is the most comprehensive in Denver Metro including exclusive coverage in high demand areas of Cherry Creek, Downtown, and Denver Tech Center as well as I-25, I-76 and I-270 coverage and hard to reach south and west suburbs. We have the only 20×60 Bulletins in CO located on I-70 headed to the ski areas and casinos, and offer full market 14×48 and 10×30 bulletin coverage through out the city.
Are you using any of the automated sales platforms (e.g. Blip, Adomni, Onescreen.ai, Hivestack, Vistar?
Yes, we’ve been test driving several of the programmatic sales platforms with our digital displays, and trying to figure out the best match for our company. We are still learning, but we get a little smarter every day. Our priority is still direct sales and relationships with our advertisers, and we don’t plan on straying from that path in the future. We see programmatic an opportunity to fill gaps, understand new advertiser categories, and embrace technology to grow and improve.
What are some of your objectives for the next year?
It’s always a big list, but here’s some highlights… More long term business, more connection in person with our clients, continuing to strengthen and grow our lease portfolio, execute OOH campaigns that bring our advertisers results (results = renewals!).
