Legends Outdoor operates a billboard plant with approximately 22 faces in Virginia. Here’s our previous interview with Steve Snyder.
Steve, tell us about the history of Legends Outdoor?
We started Legends Outdoor in 2005. Previously I had worked at Clear Channel as VP of Sales for the DC-Baltimore market and Steve Sarkady was new to the industry after a successful career in computer sales. Both of us were looking for a change and to work for ourselves after years in the corporate world. We began leasing and secured 10 permits in the Martinsburg, WV market. We constructed our locations using our HELOC’s and family investment money. We then partnered with Insite Mediacom to sell our signs to them and build a plant for them consisting of over 350 faces in West Virginia and Western Maryland. The past few years we have continued to build signs.
What’s it like to have a business partner that has been a friend since childhood?
It makes it very easy to work together. We grew up a block apart, played soccer together thru High School and have stayed close since 2nd grade. It is very easy to trust a partner who you have known most of your life.
Which digital sign manufacturers do you use and what has been you experience?
We now exclusively use Formetco for all of our digital signs. We have found they have the best product, prices and service. They have been very important to our growth into digital signs.
