Lake Billboard operates two digital billboard faces on Route 2 just outside of Painesville, Ohio.  Billboard Insider talked with Brian Avsec the company’s founder.

Tells us about the company

It’s just me, I am a one man band and love the job! I grew up having a paper route which I ran so this is my full career circle job and call it my adult paper route. If I want more business I just hustle for it.

Whose digital signs do you use and what have you learned?
Watchfire. Good hardware and software plus great support when I need it! One tile failed over four years which was under warranty. Just as important is to have a good local sign company who can service the sign fast and have knowledgeable techs that save time.
What are some of your objectives for the coming year?
I am more focused on keeping my occupancy close to 100% than being firm on price. Offering discounts for extended campaigns has worked out well. Best way to drive new customers is advertising on my own signs. Keep testing new slogans and listen to what customers are looking for. You learn fast what works!
