Impact Outdoor was started in the 1980’s by Terry Kafka.  The company operated a 300 bulletin plant in Texas which it recently sold.  The company’s coverage included Dallas and 18 surrounding counties in North Texas including McKinney, Sherman, Denton and Greenville.  You can read Kalil and Company broker Max Drachman’s comments in the sale here.  Insider talked with Terry Kafka this week.

Terry, how did you enter the outdoor business?  

I started at Leo Burnett Co. as a buyer/planner on Philip Morris Tobacco Co.  That was my intro to the world of outdoor. 

What did you enjoy most about your time in the business? 

The people – both on the real estate side as well as clients – some competitors too!

What are your plans following the sale of your company? 

Will transition into small real estate projects. 

What are two or three pieces of advice you would give to someone who’s just starting out in the outdoor business?  

Its changed an awful lot. But, it’s still the biggest bang for the advertising buck.  Remember that and believe in the medium.
