Tell us about the history of Image Media?
For more than 35 years, IMAGE MEDIA OUTDOOR has serviced the Chicagoland market as the largest, family owned and operated, outdoor vendor. At IMAGE we pride ourselves on having the highest level of Quality, Service, Performance Photography, and some of the very best location inventory in the business. With some 50+ Prime Locations, IMAGE MEDIA is one of the leaders in the Chicagoland and overall Outdoor Industry.
Can you provide us with a summary of your plant?
IMAGE MEDIA focuses on A+ outdoor advertising locations in the Chicagoland market. Plant coverage includes primarily some (50+) 20’x60’ Bulletins on all Major Roadways: I-90/94 Kennedy, I-290 Eisenhower, I-294 N. Tri-State, I-90/94 Dan Ryan, I-294 S. Tri-State, I-90 NW Tollway, and I-88 Reagan. Wallscapes and other surface street media provide access to key Chicago neighborhoods: River North, Gold Coast, Wrigleyville, Lincoln Park and other North Side Neighborhoods. IMAGE MEDIA’s ongoing expansion includes spectacular Digital and Static locations through out Chicago and the Chicago Expressways. Several of our more premium Bulletins have been earmarked and permitted for Digital conversions for the 2016-2017 construction season and are coming soon.
IMAGE MEDIA also specializes in unique opportunities. On several expressways it is possible to utilize 2x even 3x adjacent bulletins for unique “jump” or “throw” “Burmashave” messages. Additionally “Extensions” 2D and 3D, embellishments that protrude off a bulletin are another area of specialty for IMAGE. The Best Outdoor campaigns consist of a combination of media types, locations, and creative.
What’s the Chicago market like?
The Chicago Outdoor market is Important, as the 3rd largest DMA, Chicago garners attention from most national campaigns. Along with size of DMA comes a larger pool of local businesses and medium sized advertisers that comprise a critical portion of the Outdoor industry.
Chicago is fairly fragmented, with only a handful of key outdoor vendors. IMAGE MEDIA OUTDOOR with our size of plant (critical mass), quality of plant, and breadth of expertise; appreciates the opportunities to work on large fortune 500 agency accounts, through to our local area businesses and partnerships alike. 20’x60’ Bulletins, 14’x48’ Bulletins, Wallscapes, Posters, and a recent surplus of Digital screens have made the Chicago market a booming Outdoor Advertising market, with growth year over year.
We noticed that you make use of wallscapes. Where are those located and are they a significant area of focus?
Wallscapes are a great way to reach the neighborhoods, businesses, and nightlife areas of Chicago. Many of the larger brands looking to focus on specific groups and zip codes use wallscapes in conjunction with Bulletins and other media to convey their messages. While wallscapes are nice, the larger wall locations can be very expensive depending on the neighborhood. Standard Bulletins 20’x60’ and 14’x48’, are by far the most cost effective and prevalent media form in the outdoor industry. Bulletins offer high impressions, low CPM and standardized design/use across the Chicago market and other markets.
Which digital sign manufacturers do you use and what has been you experience?
IMAGE MEDIA has had some great prior experiences with WatchFire Digital hardware, and their software. We have 4-6 New 20’x60’s in development/construction which will utilize WatchFire technology for the 2016-2017 construction season.
