Anderson Outdoor is uniquely positioned to greet those visitors whether they arrive by, land, air or sea.  We talked with Johnny Anderson the company’s Founder and President.

How did you get into the out of home business?
I was a salesperson for Ackerley Outdoor Advertising back in 1988 and found out about the RFP for Bus Shelter Advertising units in the city of Key West. Then the Keys transit system wanted to expand up the Keys and I invested in another 45 Bus shelters to be positioned between Marathon and Key West. And since that expansion I was granted thru Monroe County  to expand all the way to Key Largo.
What’s new during the past year?
It’s awfully nice of you reaching out to a smaller Outdoor Company like mine. Us smaller companies do what we do because we love to help our locals companies as well as our National companies achieve awareness where they feel its needed. I have 3 Digital Bus shelters ( 6.5 MM) located in Key West and am hoping to install another 1 to 2 new Digital bus shelters with in the next 1 to 2 years. My digitals are a tremendous success especially to the National accounts because they don’t have to pay for the production materials needed for static Bus shelters.  I also added my son Will Anderson to the AOA team.
What have you learned about selling digital
It only takes 1 day after speaking with a potential client to get the ads up and running. Where static ads take a bit more time to get up and running( design, printing, shipping and installing)
How do you handle extreme weather?
And in terms of the weather, I have had no problem with the weather and my digitals. Which i purchased all 3 of my digital signs from Kirk McNabb at Incite LED.  When a Storm comes  I just remove the bottom 2 panels incase of flooding.
