Steve Miller is the Founder and CEO of Nomadic Outdoor Media. This is their initial feature on Billboard Insider so we reached out to Steve to talk about his background and the business.
Can you provide us with a quick overview of Nomadic Outdoor Media?
Nomadic Outdoor provides advertising that moves. Our state-of-the-art digital screen mobile trucks let us meet people where they are. Few, if any mediums can say that with absolute certainty. In going to them, we get personal, and when you’re personal … it matters.
We interact. We resonate. We ingratiate. We persuade. We Move.
Steve, what is your background and how did you get into the OOH business?
I’ve spent my career in the advertising business, starting as a local AE and working my way through the ranks to run regions and then companies. My experience spans TV, Cable, OOH, digital, mobile, and emerging platforms. My true passion is that I love building great teams which in turn grow businesses. My time at Adams and Fairway, is where I caught the OOH bug, and they helped me realize that I enjoy getting out and getting personal with clients and their customers. Eventually, I decided it was time to turn my passion towards building my own business hence the birth of Nomadic Outdoor Media.
Do you have a “typical” customer?
Our customer base varies greatly by their individual goals and KPIs; however, the one trait we see threaded through all is their desire to connect personally with the right audience at the right time in unique locations.
How about a couple of examples of projects you have worked on?
In Charlotte, we launched a partnership with Discovery Place Science, Charlotte’s premier interactive science museum, for the grand opening of their Ultimate Dinosaurs: Meet a New Breed of Beast exhibit, which appeals to all ages. We were able to inform and invite key prospects by exposing their impactful creative in unique areas with high compositions of dinosaur enthusiasts such as schools, children’s arts centers, museums, and large local area family festivals. This campaign was a ton of fun, with everyone wanting to take selfies with a giant T-Rex roaring and popping off the screens!
What are your goals for the next 12 months?
Continue to grow our regional network of partnerships while scaling up our fleet of vehicles. Introduce the interactive capabilities of our 17-foot elevated screens with dynamic content, live streaming capabilities with surround sound, all which showcase how exciting and personal our unique message delivery system is.
