Coastal Outdoor operates a plant with 800 bulletins and 31 digital displays and 1 experiential video display in North and South Carolina including following DMA’s:

  • Myrtle Beach/Florence
  • Charleston
  • Wilmington

The company was founded in 1996  Pudge Roberts is the firm’s President.  Coastal is an operator associate in the IBOUSA and an OAAA member.  Roberts is an OAAA board member.  In December 2021 Coastal launched a new website with updated photos and drone video of billboards.  Billboard Insider talked with Ashley Amoroso, Coastal’s Director of Strategic Planning

Where you impacted by the recent hurricanes and tropical storms?

We’ve been very lucky so far this hurricane season, as we have not suffered any damage!  Even the extensions from API withstood the winds from Tropical Storm Idalia.  Having a pre-hurricane plan & hurricane frames have also been very helpful to us.

What’s new at Coastal over the past year?

We continue to develop and deploy digitals.  We’ve seen a nice uplift in digital revenue as well as static over the last 2 years.  We have a total of 31 digitals in the marketplace and we have completed a few tuck-in acquisitions.   We’ve also hired a Real Estate Director who has made a great new addition to our management team. We continue to support several local charities, including  Meals on Wheels of Horry & Georgetown County.  Since partnering with them on their PSA campaign, they’ve gone from 50 to 400 volunteers, they now feed over 400 locally terminally ill, homebound & elderly and they saw an increase of 1,225% in donations at this year’s gala event over last year’s.  They attribute their success to our partnership and the power of Digital Out-of-Home Advertising. We are very proud of that!

What are some of your objectives for the coming year? 

We are always open to adding inventory & acquisitions.  Purchasing easements will continue to be a priority.  We’ve had record revenue numbers 2 consecutive years and look to keep up that momentum through the end of this year and into 2024! Myrtle Beach is the fastest growing metro area in the US for the 3rd year in a row, (source: U.S. News & World Report) With that comes new businesses across all categories, not to mention a new audience to share our message with!
