Cities Flirt with “Congestion Pricing”

A new report from the National League of Cities (NLC) touts congestion pricing as a way to reduce gridlock and generate money to pay for roads and bridges.

“Congestion pricing could directly counteract an increase in vehicle use and ensure self-driving cars pay full freight for the impact they create,” said an NLC report entitled Making Space: Congestion Pricing in Cities.

The League’s study defines congestion pricing as increased charges to push “some drivers off the road and making traffic flow more smoothly.” The report is based on congestion pricing in New York, Stockholm, Singapore, and London.

For billboard operators interested in traffic trends, the League of Cities report contains important stats on commuting behavior:  the car is king for commuting.
