In the November 2022 elections, two new states legalized recreational Marijuana for people over 21 years.
- Maryland voted 67% approval.
- Missouri voted 53% approval.
Billboard Insider’s take: This will mean more advertising dollars for the out of home industry in Maryland and Missouri. Expect to see regulations on where a marijuana company can advertise (not near schools or parks or bus stops or other places where kids congregate) and what it can advertise (no images which appeal to kids, address and location and website and phone only). Regardless of what you decide to do, remember the words of Ken Klein, the now retired OAAA EVP Government Affairs, on how to approach cannabis: “Excess is not your friend.”
Three states voted against legalization of recreational Marijuana for people over 21.
- North Dakota voted 55% against.
- Arkansas voted 56% against.
- South Dakota voted 53% against.
