The phrase “Get Out of Home” especially applies to the Thanksgiving holiday. Here is a snapshot of high-volume travel:
Air
A record 30.6 million passengers are expected to fly between November 16 and 27, said Airlines for America. Sunday, November 25 was projected as the busiest day during that period. TSA ramped up airport staffing, and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) opened up air space typically reserved for the military.
Highways
The holiday volume of 48.5 million people hitting the road is a projected increase of nearly 5 percent over 2017, according to the AAA motor club. The national average gas price: $2.79 a gallon.
Rail
Amtrak put to work every available passenger car in its fleet, to prepare for the hundreds of thousands expected to use the rails.
Insider’s take: record travel on the roads, in the air and on the track. All good for out of home companies and transit and airport advertising companies.
