Billboard Zone Push for Norwell, MA

Screen Shot 2016-04-14 at 4.16.57 PMAn effort from the board of selectman for an overlay zone to allow billboards in the town is being proposed in Norwell, Massachusetts.  Wicked Local Norwell reports the selectmen are seeking the planning boards support with the hope of bringing in non-resident tax revenue.

One administrator indicated that a single board could bring the town $40,000 in annual revenue and for as long as a 20 year period. The town selectmen said that finding revenue beyond residential taxes is essential to avoid asking taxpayers to vote on an operational override, or needing to lay off town employees.

The next planning board meeting is scheduled for April 27th at town hall.
