Adams Outdoor Acquires NC Based Riley (Patriot) Outdoor

Charlotte, NC – December 31st, 2024 – Adams Outdoor Advertising, the 4th largest out-of-home advertising operator in the U.S. and the largest privately owned, is excited to announce the acquisition of Riley (Patriot) Outdoor. This strategic move marks a major expansion into North Carolina’s Piedmont Triad region, encompassing Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and High Point. Renowned as a vital manufacturing and transportation hub in the southeastern United States, the Triad also serves as a thriving center for education, healthcare, and cultural development.

This acquisition includes Riley (Patriot) Outdoor’s inventory of 201 billboard faces and 7 digital displays, spanning 12 counties in eastern North Carolina. The addition further enhances Adams Outdoor Advertising’s market reach and solidifies its position as a leader in North Carolina’s largest cities. Kalil & Co. represented the Seller in the transaction.

Riley Outdoor, founded in August 2005 by Robert Moore, was named after Moore’s daughter and quickly became a trailblazer in the industry. In November 2007, the company launched its first digital billboard, a 10’x30’ Daktronics Digital, in Greenville, NC. A seasoned entrepreneur and industry veteran, Moore has a long history of leadership in outdoor advertising, including serving over 15 years as a board member of the North Carolina Outdoor Advertising Association, where he advocated for industry interests before the North Carolina General Assembly. With extensive experience in the sector, this marks Moore’s third successful venture in building and selling outdoor advertising companies.

Establishing the Triad Market

With this acquisition, Adams Outdoor will establish a new market in its portfolio, dubbed “The Triad,” an area recognized for its economic vitality and growth potential. Businesses in Greensboro, Winston- Salem, and High Point will gain access to a robust network of advertising opportunities, supported by Adams’ commitment to creativity and service excellence.
