Billboard Insider Readers Talk Vinyl Recycling

Some reader comments on yesterday’s What Do You Do with Old Vinyl? post.

A Midwest out of home exec Tom Giesken uses vinyls for slip n slides or sells them as covers or pond liners.

I never dispose of vinyls. They come in handy for so many things; personal and business. We’ve donated them to NP orgs for Slip N Slides for youth parties. Farmers love them to cover their hay wagons and other things, use as a partition wall in their sheds and many other things. People who are putting in ponds love to use them to line the bottom of the ponds. I’ve use them to cover open trailers with equipment and other thing I don’t want to get wet. I’ve used them to put down when i am drilling a hole and don’t want to reseed the grass where I am working and have less visual impact. I’ve even used them for putting down in a room I may be painting. I sell them for $20-35 each depending on who it is.

Scott Furncolow SVP Billboards at Accelerate Investment Partners did the same.

When I was with Fairway, we always tried to repurpose old vinyls locally to farmers for crops or especially to cover hay or animal shelters. We also made efforts to save some for local high schools as added underlay on their field sidelines or projects they worked on that had a need for a backdrop. It was a great being able to help in our local communities.

Wes Frick of Wes Frick Design gives a thumbs up.

This is awesome, thanks for repurposing vinyls.
