What is Your Most Unique Billboard? How About The “Vinita and Afton String”

Have you ever considered which billboard in your market is truly unique? Insider asked that question and last week heard from Marty Williamson.  This week, we hear from Jerod Norris of Norris Outdoor Advertising.

I was reading your post from August 11th regarding which billboards are the most unique in our area, whether we own them or not. Interesting read!

It reminded me of two very unique clusters of non-conforming wooden billboards we own, of which we call “strings”. Both are on I-44 with one being near Vinita, Oklahoma and the other near Afton, Oklahoma each facing opposite lanes of traffic.

The “Vinita String” has ten, 4’H x 32’W billboards, each built closely together and perfectly angled toward the interstate. The Afton String has 11 faces, same concept and sizing. They create a very nostalgic feel on the interstate and provide a unique advertising opportunity for the buyer. We enjoy participating in the creative, with the opportunity to display several consecutive messages for the same company advertising different products or services, or several one or two word ad displays to create one single message.

You can’t help but notice and enjoy them as you pass by! I’ve attached a couple photos.

Do you have a “unique” billboard you would like to share?  Send your info to me at johnweller@billboardinsider.com. We would love to feature your structure in a future article. Have a good weekend.

  1. It’s a shame all the old Burma Shave boards have gone the way of Burma Shave.
