Cullman, AL considers new sign rules.

The Cullman Times reports that Cullman city council is considering new off premise sign rules.  Cullman passed a 6 month moratorium in on new off-premises signs in January 2016 to give the city council time to decide how to amend the sign code.  The existing sign code requires off-premise signs to be:

  • 2,000 feet outside the downtown center
  • 4,000 feet from any other off-premise sign
  • No signs are allowed in the central business district.
  • In B-1 and B-2 zones

Insider’s take: 4,000 foot spacing is pretty strict.  Most towns use 1,500-2,000 foot spacing.
