In addition to being an out of home industry legend, Barrett Outdoor’s John Barrett is a partner in Brewport Brewing Company, a microbrewery in Bridgeport, Connecticut.  John and his brother Bruce purchased the former Fairfield County News Building in Bridgeport and put a billboard on the property.  They later coverted the building into a brewpub in July 2016.

John tell us about the brewhouse.

We have a 15 barrel (465 gallons) brewhouse that can ferment about 3,700 gallons at a time.  The restaurant can handle up to 500 people at a time and our pizza team easily produces 100 pizzas per hour.

What’s your favorite brew?

I really don’t have a favorite brew.  We have brewed over 40 different beers and received medals for 9 of them, so there is always something new to try.  I am partial to Porters, Stouts, Ales, Hefeweizen, Sours and our Barley wines.  Not a fan of bitter beers.

Barrett isn’t the only out of home executive turned brewer.  Nic Keys Jr a Vice President of Key Ads just purchased a property occupied by a pub in Dayton, Ohio.  Ralston Outdoor’s Ben Ralston owns the Katy Trail Ice House brewpub in Dallas.  Ralston Outdoor supplies the billboards.
