Becker Boards Buys Pearl Media Miami Wallscapes

Becker Boards has purchased all of  Pearl Media’s Miami wallscapes.  Insider talked Todd Scanlin, Becker Boards VP Sales about the deal.

What was the rationale for the transaction?

We were happy to grow our footprint in Miami because there’s a significant barrier to entry in the market.  As your readers may know, there are only 45 mural permits in the City of Miami. Mural permits in Miami are highly sought after and have inherent value.  We are thrilled we were able to accomplish this with Pearl.

What did you buy?

The city of Miami likes to call them murals.  In our lingo they are wallscapes or spectaculars.  Sizes range from 1,600 square feet to 7,000 square feet.  Due to a quirk in the laws, these are amongst the largest freeway wallscapes in the country. We expect to relocate some of the murals to higher revenue generating buildings and improve upon the locations that remain.

Where do you want to grow?

In the top 15 major DMA markets.  Of course, we’re always looking to expand in and around our existing inventory in the Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Francisco markets with several others in the works.  We’ve got a great team and ownership and are thus well positioned for future growth.

How big is Becker post acquisition?

Becker Boards now operates approximately 300 premium outdoor advertising faces.
