Just out of the Navy, George Merovich started in the winter of 1972 with Penn Advertising in York, PA — as a bill poster.
Forty-seven years later, at Lamar’s regional office in York, PA, Merovich is responsible for development in 18 markets, from Providence to parts of Ohio. He also leads state billboard associations in Pennsylvania and New York.
Merovich will retire at the end of the year.
“George Merovich is an ultimate professional, and one of my best friends in the out of home industry,” said David Feldman of Park Outdoor Advertising in Ithaca, NY.
In 2015, Merovich was inducted into the Outdoor Advertising Association of America Hall of Fame for leadership in public affairs and real estate.
Like his mother, Merovich was active in local politics. His congressman (Scott Perry, R-PA) is a neighbor.
“I’ve known him since he was a kid,” says Merovich, referring to Congressman Perry, who has a seat on the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee.
Likewise, Merovich also knew the previous local congressman by first name, Todd Russell Platts, R-PA.
