Insider spoke with Randy to get an update since we had talked last year and walked right into the middle of a major merger announcement.

Randy, I understand you have a major announcement to make for Martin Outdoor Media?

Ray Moyers

Your timing could not have been better.  We have a press release just going out as Transit and Street Furniture companies Signal Outdoor Advertising and InSite Martin Street Ads, LLC have agreed to combine forces in an equity merger. The transaction closed last week and is effective as of 9/28/18. The combined entity will offer coast to coast Transit Shelter, Transit Bench and Bus advertising coverage in partnership with municipalities and transit authorities in major metropolitan markets including New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Miami – Ft. Lauderdale, Tampa – St. Petersburg & suburban Washington DC. The combination of our two companies will enable us to better serve our municipal partners in providing first rate amenities to the transit riders and cities.  Going forward the operation will include an experienced executive team led by President & COO, Ray Moyers, who is currently serving in that role at Signal.  Here is a quote from Ray on the merger.

“The Signal-Martin philosophies are very much aligned. Local business is crucial to our success. We are dedicated to providing the highest quality services to all businesses, large or small. And, we can better serve our national clients with the addition of Los Angeles, another top 10 market, coupled with the expansion of our Miami-Ft Lauderdale presence. We are delighted to join forces with the InSite-Martin team to continue building the best transit operation in the country.”

So will there be a name change for the combined companies?
The companies will continue to operate under their current names at least for a while.  We will examine whether we should change the name or brand ourselves differently in the coming months but it has not been at the top of the priority list.
Wow, that is big news! Will you continue to operate your InSite Mediacom billboard plant?  How big is that plant now?
There is no change in the size of our billboard operations- we have about 650 boards in 6 states.  Billboard operations are in a separate company from the street furniture business and are not affected by the merger.

How will your wireless initiatives fit into both the Street Furniture, Transit Shelter and Billboard business?
We expect to continue our marketing of billboards as wireless sites.  We are looking at our expanded footprint in the street furniture business to see if there are any particular initiatives that we should undertake, but as of now, nothing new is planned.
