Herald News reports the Fall River Zoning Board of appeals is still considering whether to approve special permits for 6 digital billboards on city land in Fall River Massachusetts. The 70 by 50 billboards would generate an annual revenue stream of $650,000/year for the next 20 years according to the mayor. The plan is opposed by city activists and a neighboring landowner who claims that the billboards will be offensive to renters and decrease property values. The city is being advised by the Boston Based Capital Associates. The current locations under review are:
- The east end of Bedford Street adjacent to Route 24
- South of Central street at the west end of Route 79
- North of Father DeValles Boulevard
- Fourth Street at the corner of Hartwell Street
- The north side of Brayton Avenue and the corner of the I-195 ramp
- Market street facing south Main Street.
Insider’s take: $650,000/year is a lot of money. Insider values the easements relating to the 6 billboards at $6.5 million at a 10 times annual rents multiple. Lots at stake for Fall River
