The Los Angeles Times reports Lamar is providing free space on 50 billboards to City Councilman Mitchell Englander to promote his bid for a seat on the LA Board of Supervisors. Englander city’s on the Los Angeles City Council’s Planning and Land Use management committee which is evaluating new digital billboard rules. Lamar hasn’t been shy about using its plant to support politicians. In 2015 Lamar used 100 billboards to promote the reelection of city councilman Jose Huizar and 88 signs to support five other candidates.
Insider’s take: Lamar has a right to get involved in the political process just like anyone else. Most of the people who complain when corporations get involved in the political process are really upset by someone spending money to support an idea that they disagree with.
