A new industry task force held its inaugural meeting last week as both buyers and sellers met to discuss meaningful ways to improve the overall OOH business. The new-standing committee is a cooperative venture between OAAA and 4A’s, the trade group representing advertising agencies. The purpose of the task force is to identify opportunities for improving overall transactions and to develop stronger best practices for conducting business within the OOH media community.
The committee is co-chaired by Jean-Luc Decaux, CO-CEO for JCDecaux NA and who also serves as OAAA Marketing Chair. He shares leadership responsibilities with Dave Koppelman, General Manager for MacDonald Media and who serves as chair of the 4A’s OOH Media Committee.
The other members on the committee representing the OOH media sellers are Jeff Gunderman, Eye Corp.; Michael Keck, Adams + Fairway; Bob McCuin, Clear Channel Outdoor; John Miller, Lamar Advertising; Marc Miller, OUTFRONT Media; and Candice Tisdell, Interstate Outdoor. The OOH buyers are represented by Donna Baum, Starcom; Winnie Chin, Mediavest|Spark; Marc Fenty, Horizon Media; Ryan Laul, OMG; and Jenn Seickel, OOH Pitch. The committee was initially inspired by Andrea MacDonald, MacDonald Media.
The first tasks of the group will be centered on identifying ways to improve transactional processes, define best practices, make recommendations for aligning contract language between OAAA and 4A’s standard documents, and establish an information exchange and process for collecting broader industry feedback.
The committee will meet again in late October and plans to meet regularly throughout 2018 and beyond.
