Jesse London is the President and CEO of TierOne. He spent 10 years in New York City in management positions for both Clear Channel and OUTFRONT Media, before taking the entrepreneur train south and starting TierOne Media. Here is our conversation updating us on the business.
First off, did hurricane season create any issues for TierOne?
Isaias hit Pensacola and the beaches all the way to Destin head-on as a Category 2 storm. Sustained winds reached 120 mph, with gusts reportedly hitting 170 mph and pop-up tornadoes adding to the intensity. It was quite a show. The plant came through remarkably well. Since most of our inventory is digital, we lost just one vinyl face. The structures were overbuilt and the screens came back as the power was turned on – everything held up beautifully. On the bright side we lost a few trees and gained a couple of new roofing advertisers.
Tell us about your growth?
TierOne now operates 95 outdoor faces across our four markets—Pensacola, Mobile, Montgomery, and the Emerald Coast, generating nearly 600 ads per period. Most of our growth has been organic, though we just bought a few faces last month. The development pipeline is strong, so we will reach 100 faces by year-end.
This year, ad revenue was big story. By every measure ’26 outpaces ’25, and this is genuine same-store growth; advertising sales are increasing faster than our face count. While national and programmatic revenue are up, we grew the sales team from four to six full-time account executives and they are the real reason for the sales momentum. The team continues to exceed expectations, and I am consistently impressed by their results.
Tell is about the acquisition activity in your markets?
In Florida, Lamar acquired Salter a few years back, more recently MH acquired Freedom, leaving TierOne as the last locally owned billboard operator in our Florida markets. In Alabama, Lamar acquired Go Digital in Montgomery, further consolidating the competitive landscape. Net net, TierOne is well positioned now as the number two operator in our area.
Has that changed your business any?
It’s certainly easier to keep up with fewer competitors, but there’s also something to be said for being the local guy – it offers a clear USP. Our Ad Sales and Real Estate teams all came from locally owned media, so they have deep local relationships, we feature local content on our digital billboards, and of course we love a good Chamber breakfast.
