Van Treese Outdoor operates a billboard plant in Indiana with 4 faces including 2 digital faces in Indiana under the trade names of Worth Outdoor and Van Treese Outdoor.  Dan Van Treese is the founder and owner.  Billboard Insider talked with Van Treese.

How did you get into the out of home business?

I had a friend of mine that built signs in Florida and he showed me the billboard business when I was 25 years old. I tried unsuccessfully to get some sites and then there was a moratorium in Indianapolis and I got a variance to build my first sign on 82nd St.  I built that sign operated it for a few years and then sold it.  I was hooked.  When digital billboards started I built one of the first digital billboards in Indiana in Martinsville.  All I could afford was a 10.6′ by 36’ structure. They were super expensive.

We hear you are looking to buy used digital billboards

I’m looking to buy some 14 by 48 displays and I’ve got my own trucking company to pick it up.  I also have a crane.   I’m looking at buy signs which otherwise might have to be destroyed. I’d like to buy them

What are some of your objectives for the coming year?

I’m looking to build some more digital locations to coincide with some real estate development that I’m doing.
