Update on Yesterday’s Inglewood Legal Article

After publishing our article in the Inglewood lawsuit, we heard back from Richard Hamlin with some additional information.

Coincidentally, today’s Daily Breeze, a Los Angeles South-Bay area newspaper published an article about claims that the Inglewood mayor accepted a $25,000 campaign contribution from an ally(?) affiliate(?) of WOW a few days before the vote to approve the WOW lease, which was not put out to bid. A former mayor of a nearby city (there are about 115 individual cities in Los Angeles County) sent a PDF of the article to me.

  1. Amazing. Operators should be very careful and seek wise counsel before they make donations to council members in attempts buy or influence votes or agreements with cities. I’ve seen it first hand with my own overly eager, short sighted, ham fisted clients in this industry and the same sort of whistle blowing article came out. It cost the politician the seat and it may still cost the operator the most valuable sign they’ll ever own. Be smarter, owners and operators!
