The State Journal reports that Lamar is suing the city of Weston, West Virginia in response to rejection of a billboard permit. The Lewis County School Board approved a Lamar plan to put a billboard on school property in August 2016. The city asked Lamar and the school board to reconsider. In December 2016 the city passed an ordinance prohibiting billboards within 500 feet of any church, school property, cemetery, public park, public reservation, public playground or state or national forest” and rejected Lamar’s application for a permit. Lamar is claiming the ordinance is too broad and accuses the city of tortious interference with its school board agreement.
