Whistler Billboards operates a billboard plant with 100 digital screens and 350 static faces in Oklahoma.  President Shawn Whistler founded the company over 29 years ago.  Sharon Cottrell is Chief Operations Officer. Billboard Insider talked with founder Shawn Whistler,

How many total display faces is Whistler up to and how many of your total faces are digital?

In 2025, Whistler Billboards is approaching 1,150 ads on 100 digital screens and 350 static faces. We exclusively develop, or acquire and redevelop, best-in-corridor locations, targeting daily traffic patterns of 50,000 to 250,000 motorists. This empowers Whistler’s traditional and digital networks to connect Oklahoma’s largest brands with geo-targeted audiences in every highway corridor and suburb throughout our Oklahoma City and Tulsa Metro areas.

What’s new over the past year?

In 2024, we continued to improve our processes for client acquisition and revenue growth of high value accounts while also choreographing our customer experience through shared meals, gifting, copywriting & creative to drive direct search traffic and lead generation, and attribution for tracking ROI) to retain lifetime relationships based upon results. On the real estate side of the business, we closed on several acquisitions and continue to maintain a 60/40 split of easement vs 99-year leaseholds and a 13% lease expense.

What are some of your objectives for the coming year?

Currently, Whistler is continuing to explore acquisition opportunities of existing billboard plants in other major metro areas to leverage our proprietary sales, retention, and real estate approaches with opportunities to grow DOOH assets.
