One of the things Billboard Insider enjoys most about the out of home business is talking to the impressive young men and women who start out of home businesses. Today we talk to Roar Outdoor’s Zach Hogue. Hogue entered the out of home business via commercial real estate.
How did you get involved with the out of home business?
I got wind of how good the out of home business could be back in 2016. I reached out to Britt McConnell at Formetco, who put me in touch with Marty Williamson. Marty had developed two great digital sites that I tried to buy, but I couldn’t put the deal together, mostly because I had no money. Fast-forward four years and I still hadn’t come across a better business than billboards, and I had a little bit of money, so I followed up with Marty and he had an unbuilt static interstate site in Atlanta that I bought and built in October of 2020. I went to my first IBOUSA conference in the spring of 2023 and that bolstered my confidence in the business and motivated me to keep growing.
What’s new over the past year.
Where do you want to grow?
Closer to home! Our plan is to develop and build a geographically concentrated plant that’s closer to Atlanta.
