Collin Huber on Daktronics software investments

Collin Huber, Market Manager – Out of Home Advertising, Daktronics

On last week’s earnings call Daktronics CEO Reece Kurtenbach highlighted that Daktronics is investing in the customer service software and the software which runs daktronics products.  Billboard Insider asked Daktronics Out of Home Advertising Market Manager Collin Huber the impact this might have on Daktronic’s digital billboard customers and Huber said this:

As far as what we are doing at Daktronics for display software developments varies from market to market but we are always looking for improvements in our functionality and user experiences.  In traditional roadside billboard deployments, we are somewhat limited on what improvements we can make.   The displays are limited regulatory-wise in what they can do functionally and how they display information, but he do have improved reporting capabilities and also some no scheduling features.  The other developments from a software side of things are more on the diagnostic and monitoring side of things for digital billboards.   So some customers might not notice these new capabilities, but they will help Daktronics to better monitor, diagnose and correct a potential display issues.

Daktronics has multiple software options that vary across the markets we serve. For example, our Show Control software is developed for Live Events, users can easily create a dynamic and fully immersive game-day production. Our Venus Control Suite software, developed for the OOH industry, comes with our exclusive scheduling model to help users maximize their digital billboard revenue. Based on user feedback, our developers continually look for ways to improve functionality and user experience across all our software platforms.

Recent customer facing updates to our OOH software include streamlined workflows, intuitive navigation and enhanced reporting and sales tool features. At a glance, users have a full view of their network, which accounts might need immediate attention and more efficient ways to sell ad space and maintain accounts. More to come.

Other behind the scenes developments come in the form of diagnostics and monitoring capabilities for digital billboards. Customers might not notice these new capabilities, but they help Daktronics technicians monitor, diagnose and correct potential display issues before they become visual.
