Brentwood Home Page reports that Lamar is converting a Brentwood digital billboard back to a trivision after losing a string of court battles. The billboards sits 12 feet outside the city of Brentwood. The digital sign was originally denied. Lamar put up the sign after winning the case before the Board of Zoning Approvals. In response the Metro government and city of Brentwood sued the Metro government’s Board of Zoning Approvals and got the decision reversed. The Tennessee Supreme Court denied Lamar’s appeal.
Insider’s take: Good regulations should be predictable and easy to understand. It amazes Insider that a city has a regulatory process which is so murky that it allows the city to sue itself to reverse its own decision.
