Originally known as Chicago Billboards, their inventory includes an array of Community Digital Billboards which are located in high demand local and suburban communities in and around the Chicago area. Recently, the Company changed their name officially to Community Digital Displays and Insider spoke with Todd Sanders a partner in the Company.

I see that you have officially made the transition to Community Digital Displays?

Yes, we have transitioned from ChicagoBillboards to Community Digital Displays. Community Digital Displays more accurately represents our inventory offering. While we operate within the Chicago market area, all of our inventory is located within the suburban areas, not in the City of Chicago proper. Our units are mainly along primary surface streets at major suburban intersections. Our displays have stonework and landscaping under the faces as opposed to the more traditional monopole from a “billboard.” Since our units are more hyper-local, community focused, the name does a much better job at representing what we do. Additionally, the name “Chicago” limits us to a specific geography. We the rebranded name, we are not limited to a specific market or geographical area.

What differentiates Community Displays in the Chicago market?

Our displays are located in suburban communities where limited to no other digital out of home offerings exist. A typical display is visible from the intersection with offers extended dwell time and dual reads from multiple streets offering the advertising messages much greater exposure. The displays also include location community messages providing for city content incorporated in the digital rotation with the advertising. We work hard to make the environment beneath and around the display faces aesthetically pleasing with stone selections and color schemes that fit the individual communities. Since our inventory is branded with the cities’ names on the stonework under the displays, an added benefit to the advertiser is an implied endorsement by the community.

How many Community Digital Displays do you have in place?

We currently have 45 Community Digital Displays in operation. My partner, Bill Przybylski, is constantly searching for new development opportunities.

Do you still have other OOH structure solutions?

We have a few static bulletins and one digital bulletin that we market on behalf of a few private property owners, but all new develop opportunities are specific to Community Digital Displays.
