A Reader Comment on Yesterday’s Albuquerque Story

Yesterday’s story on the City of Albuquerque saying no to continuing their bus advertising contract with Lamar brought this reader response.

How will the city replace that income? Did anyone consider leaving advertising on the back and lower thirds (below the window) of the buses to maintain some of that revenue? The council seems unwilling to consider a compromise.

Insider’s Comment: The comment about modifying the advertising to allow for a better line of sight by bus riders makes sense.  The Yahoo News article states that the $1.2 million potential loss of revenue is a fraction of a percent of the estimated $174,585,000 total transit budget for the next three years. That’s easy to say when the city is on strong financial footing.  Tougher though when budgets tighten up and all dollars are important.

  1. How about you take care of the crime problem, and just leave the busses alone.
