Insider’s take on the chart:
- Digital billboards accounted for only 6,400 (2%) of the 368,239 total billboards in the United States. The number of digital boards, however, has doubled since 2002. Insider expects the number of digital billboards will continue to increase dramatically.
- There are more transit displays (512,040) than there are billboards (368,239).
- Digital place place-based video accounts for 1.25 million screens. Insider had no idea the sector was that large. Some interesting possibilities if beacon technology is combined with place based video because there will be so many data points.
