Weather Cams Can Make You Money

Durden Outdoor’s Bill Durden with a billboard weather/traffic camera

If you live in an area bedeviled by tornados and storms you should reach out to your TV station to see if they want to mount weather cams on your billboards.

Insider has written about Durden Outdoor’s use of weather/traffic cams.

Insider knows another out of home company that just reached an agreement with a local TV station to mount weather cams on the top of billboards.  Here are the details:

  • The TV station is paying $125/month per billboard for 5 years for the right to put up a camera so that it can have up to the minute weather shots at the billboards.
  • The TV station is paying the install and wifi costs.
  • The cams need to be center mounted on the structure 4 inches above the sign so that the picture is stable and doesn’t sway.
