Lamar wins round in Pittsburgh Fight

Pittsburgh Post Gazette reports that Lamar has won a round in a protracted court battle with the city of Pittsburgh when a District judge dismissed a city citation claiming that Lamar had increased the size of the sign on Mt Washington when it added vinyl banner. Schenectady County Settles With Lamar

Insider reported in December 2016 that Lamar has sued Schenectady County, New York for $50,000 in compensation after the county terminated a billboard lease as part of a road widening project.  The County offered Lamar $25,000 for the billboard when it purchased the property.  Lamar countered at $82,638 and asked for the county to pay the costs of the relocation of the billboard.  The County then notified Lamar it was terminating the billboard lease under a 30 day notice clause. Outdoor Stocks Exceed Market In 1Q 2017

US Out of home stocks outperformed the market during the first quarter of 2017.  A portfolio of the three public US outdoor companies (Clear Channel Outdoor, Lamar Advertising and Outfront Media) increased by 16% per annum during the first quarter of 2017 (3 months ended March 31, 2017) well above the 6% increase for the S&P 500 during the same period. Scenic America Wants Hollywood Sign to Replace Mt Washington Billboard

WESA and CBS Pittsburgh report that Scenic Pittsburgh is asking Lamar Advertising to sell or donate a 7,200 square foot billboard on Pittsburg’s Mount Washington to Scenic Pittsburgh for a Hollywood Style letter sign. Lamar Bought Middleton Outdoor

On March 13, 2017 we reported that Middleton Outdoor sold its Texas plant.  Max Drachman of Kalil and Co brokered the transaction.  The Victoria Advocate ran an article on the sale yesterday which identified Lamar as the buyer.  Middleton operated 10 digital billboards in Victoria, Texas. Court Victory for Billboard Maintenance

STARK COUNTY, OH (March 7) – In a victory for maintenance of nonconforming billboards, a court in Ohio overruled a locality that had issued a stop-work order. Court of Common Pleas Judge Chryssa N.
