Lamar Bought Middleton Outdoor

On March 13, 2017 we reported that Middleton Outdoor sold its Texas plant.  Max Drachman of Kalil and Co brokered the transaction.  The Victoria Advocate ran an article on the sale yesterday which identified Lamar as the buyer.  Middleton operated 10 digital billboards in Victoria, Texas. Court Victory for Billboard Maintenance

STARK COUNTY, OH (March 7) – In a victory for maintenance of nonconforming billboards, a court in Ohio overruled a locality that had issued a stop-work order. Court of Common Pleas Judge Chryssa N. Pittsburgh sues to remove Mt Washington Sign.

Triblive reports that the city of Pittsburgh has sued Lamar Advertising seeking immediate removal of the large poster atop Mount Washington.  The city contends Lamar installed the 32 by 225 foot sign without approval.  Last year the city issued a notice of violation.  The city’s Zoning Board of Adjustment denied Lamar’s appeal.  The dispute dates back to June 2016.  The city unsuccessfully tried to convince a judge that the sign should be removed for maintenance violations in September 2016. Appeals Court Upholds CCO Tax Assessments

BizTimes in Milwaukee, WI reports that Clear Channel Outdoor lost an appeal on a challenge to $7.2 million in real estate tax assessments  on their 850 billboards. Clear Channel had previously paid the $7.2 million obligation for the years 2009-2013 but had challenged the real estate assessments as invalid arguing that their billboard permits did not fall under the definition of real property. Lamar revenue up 9% in 4Q 2016

Lamar released fourth quarter 2016 financials yesterday.  Here are the highlights from the financials and the Seeking Alpha earnings call transcript.  All of the quotes come from the Seeking Alpha transcript. Revenue increased 8.6% to $386 million.  Acquisition adjusted revenue increased 2% or slightly in excess of GDP.
