Newsday reports that Standard Diversified, the public company which owns Standard Outdoor, has fired chief executive Ian Estus.  Gregory Baxter has been appointed interim CEO.   Mike Morrill still runs Standard Outdoor.

PJ Solomon has published an eight page report titled The Reckoning of New Media: OOH + Video Everywhere Becomes A Reality. You won’t learn anything new but the report lists trends favoring out of home:

  • No bots or fake views
  • improved audience targeting via mobile, geofencing and sensors
  • GDPR restrictions on the ability of Google and Facebook to gather data.
  • no problem with ad blocking software
  • automation of out of home buying

Insider just read the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s Request for Proposals 56927 to develop and improve out of home advertising.  The current advertising contract expires August 31, 2020 and the Port is seeking a new 10 year term.  The Port generated $75 million in revenues from advertising in 2018 and thinks “The Transition to digital OOH offers the potential for significantly greater revenue generation.” You think so?   Someone at the Port must be casting envious eyes at the MTA.
