Holiday Spirit: Helping Stott Outdoor Employees

Donations from every corner of the billboard industry met an ambitious GoFundMe goal to help employees of Stott Outdoor Advertising who lost homes to wildfire.

Insider thanks its readers for supporting this worthy cause.

After wildfire burned homes of seven Stott employees November 8, General Manager Jim Moravec created a GoFundMe account, setting a goal of $40,000.

Six weeks after the wildfire, the GoFundMe total contributed topped $40,000 on December 19.  185 people have contributed money.  Comments posted by donors on the Stott GoFundMe page commonly used the word “family.”

“Stott Outdoor is part of our OOH advertising family,” said Leith El-Hassan of Circle Graphics in Longmont, CO.  “Stott regularly supports public service campaigns, when others are in need.  Now they need our help.”

Jerome Kline:  “Here’s a small token from the Billups family.”

Lamar Advertising/PalmSprings:  “From your outdoor advertising family in Palm Springs, CA.”

In Chico, CA, home of Stott Outdoor, Moravec expects a long slog to return to normal.  Donations have paid to replace clothes, appliances, cookware, and other essentials lost to fire.

“Support of the OOH community has been impressive and is so appreciated,” said Moravec.  “People we do not know well nor do lots of business with have reached out to help because they are quality, caring people.”
