is a new company formed by a group of Washington State University graduates focused on helping companies advertise their messages to college campuses by turning people into walking billboards.

static1-squarespaceOn a major west coast campus now you might spot a student walking around with an iPad or tablet placed in the back of his or her backpack displaying an advertisement for Gatorade or Microsoft. Or you might find information about school clubs or the latest scores from athletic events.

Jonah Friedl, CEO of NOMAD came up with the idea as he considered ways to raise awareness of campus organizations he was involved in at WSU.  The obvious choice was using social media, but, Friedl said that millenials often regard advertisements they see on Facebook and Twitter as spam. That means getting their attention required some creativity.  They decided to focus on reaching students as they walked to and from their classes.

Students  are paid by the hour and can set aside a percentage of their earnings to go toward a charity of their choice if they so choose.  You can read more on the article at Working Woman Report.
