Daily Billboard’s 3 of a Kind: Busting Out

This month for the ‘3 of a kind’ feature Daily Billboard Blog shines a spotlight on a popular technique of busting out, or bursting through, the confines of a billboard hoarding to grab the attention of passersby.

These 3 examples are all from the entertainment industry and the first eye-catching billboard is for The Angry Birds Movie spotted along L.A.’s La Cienega Boulevard on May 1, 2016.

From animated films to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and a spectacular billboard to get fans excited for the prequel movie franchise, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Sometimes this approach uses the metal infrastructure of the billboard to get its message across and sometimes does away with it all together, like this movie example from along Beverly Boulevard on October 31, 2016.

The third example is from the world of TV to help launch Amazon Prime’s remake of The Tick superhero comedy series and was spotted above Westwood Boulevard on August 26, 2017.

This explosive gimmick certainly seems to be a popular way of turning heads, and Daily Billboard thinks you should also check out this Bat-signal billboard for The Dark Knight Rises  and this recent billboard for The Spy Who Dumped Me  for other similar examples.

Come back next month when we’ll be having some fun with 3D mannequins.
