Stein Sign Display was founded in 1952 by Clint L. Stein.  After serving in the Air Force and returning from World War II, Clint started working at Ralph’s Neon.  He later purchased it and named it Hi-way Sign Company, largely because it was located on Highway 212 and the company had many billboard locations across the state.   In 1972, the name of the company was changed to Stein Sign Display.  Mark Stein, the current owner and son of Clint, began his career in the sign industry in 1980.   In 2014, Stuart Stein (son of Mark, grandson to Clint), started as General Manager of Stein Sign Display and currently is the company’s Vice President.

The Stein’s also own a wholesale sign manufacturing business, ESCO Manufacturing, and  Elite Signs and Graphix which was purchased to provide an even broader array of sign products to Watertown and the surrounding region. The three companies employ over 100 people.

Stein Sign Display offers two digital billboards to choose from in Watertown.  Both boards were manufactured by Daktronics another South Dakota based company.  Including their static inventory, Stein Sign Display has over 100 billboard locations across the state.
