Meadow Outdoor is a family-owned, firm started by Joe Zukin in 1968. Joe began his association with the outdoor industry while President of Frontier Village Amusement Park in San Jose, CA in the 1960’s.  Joe Zukin died on December 4, 2018.  John Zukin, a partner in the firm, retired in January 2019 after 35 years at the company.

Mike Zukin is an OAAA board member.  Chris Zukin serves on the OAAA Safety, Standards and Technology committee.

In April 2018 the company installed a solar lighting system in Boardman OR powering 8 lights on  a 14’ x 48’ bulletin.

Here is last year’s interview with Chris Zukin.

Can you share with us about the history of Meadow Outdoor?

We got into the business in 1968 when Joe Zukin bought Cleaveland Outdoor in Merced California. In 1981 we bought Honald Inc in The Dalles, Oregon which was the beginning of our current plant.

You have structures in six states.  Tell us about your inventory.

Actually, we now have 1,000+ faces in 7 states: Oregon, Washington, Idaho, California, Wyoming, Montana and Utah. We have historically been a 100% a bulletin plant.

You have a strong commitment to the outdoor associations.  What are your thoughts on the importance of associations?

We are a member of the OAAA, the IBOUSA and the Oregon Outdoor Advertising Association. We learned early that a united industry has a much more powerful voice than any individual company. We also have learned a lot in our interaction with other outdoor companies.
