Todd Sanders is an owner and partner in Chicago Billboards and Insider had the opportunity to ask him a few questions about the company.

Todd, How did you get into the Out of Home industry and along with that, share some of the history of Chicago Billboards?

I have been in the OOH industry for over 26 years, having been on both the vendor and agency/buyer sides of the business.  Following college, I started in public affairs with Patrick Media (now Clear Channel Outdoor) in Houston.  Then worked as a media buyer for an ad agency in Houston before joining The Buntin Group in Nashville.  From Buntin, I moved to Chicago with Cramer-Krasselt, then founded a Midwest office for MacDonald Media.  After that, I moved to the vendor side of the industry with Windsor Outdoor and then to OUTFRONT Media.  We officially launched ChicagoBillboards in February 2017, bringing together a collection of billboard inventory from a few different partnerships.

Tell us about your billboard plant?

ChicagoBillboards currently operates over 50 static and digital faces along Chicagoland expressways and throughout the suburbs.  Our primary inventory is our Community Digital Network, with high impact, local digital inventory within high demand Chicago suburban communities.

Which manufacturers have you used for digital?  Do you have a preference?

We use Watchfire for all of our digital units.  We have been very happy with their units.  Very little maintenance issues and great customer service.

How is the greater Chicago area for regulations related to digital signs?

The Chicago marketplace comprises close to 100 different municipalities, each with their own specific regulations and requirements.

Are you in a growth mode?

We are actively working to expand our network with new locations.
