Wallkill to regulate billboards.

Screen Shot 2016-04-05 at 7.08.21 AMThe board of the town of Wallkill, New York will adopt a local law to regulate the number and location of billboards in town according to MidHudsonNews.com.  Wallkill is in Orange County, New York.  The proposed billboard law includes the following

  • Limits new static and digital billboards to parts of New York state route 17 and I-84.
  • New digital billboards must be 2,500 feet from any other digital billboard.
  • Digital billboards must provide “a reasonable percentage of time” to community use such as amber alerts, construction alerts, and town announcements.
  • Non-conforming billboards on vacant land must be removed when the land is developed.
  • Non-conforming boards may not be replaced or expanded.
