US Out of Home Revenue Up But Trails US Economy

Good news and bad news in the third quarter 2017 US out of home revenue figures which OAAA released last week.

  • The good news: US out of home revenue growth has accelerated.  Out of home revenues grew 1.9% during the third quarter of 2017, up from only 0.30% during the first quarter of 2017.

 

  • The bad news:  US out of home revenues are growing about half as fast as the US economy and slightly below the inflation rate.   US Out of home revenues grew at an annual rate of 1.6% over the past four quarters while the US economy grew at an average rate of 4.1%.  US out of home revenue growth failed to keep pace with the US inflation rate of 2.0% for the past 4 quarters.
