Rate This Board By Out of Home Creative

Rate This Board allows a billboard designer to rate a random piece of billboard artwork using the following scale: 1 (not good), 2 (below average), 3 (average), 4 (very good), 5 (great). Then the designer talks about what they may have done differently for outdoor advertising. This weeks rating is provided by Melody Roberts, an OBIE nominated billboard designer and founder of Out of Home Creative, an outdoor advertising design firm specializing in out of home design for businesses, agencies, media buyers and out of home companies. Melody has been in the outdoor industry since 1999.

  • The Atlanta market has a lot of competitors in this category. This advertisement sets this advertiser apart from the rest.
  • Great use of extensions to really make the advertisement stand out (and they’re all over Atlanta).
  • Colors compliment each other nicely and are nice and bold.
  • Even though there’s a lot of visuals to explain the mascot is the plumber with the name tag and he’s educated by using a chalkboard background and grad cap – they all work in unison and were clearly thought out when strategizing the overall look and feel they wanted.
  • I see these boards from over 1,000 feet away and with high market saturation and extensions they’re hard to miss!
