• Rate This Board by Out of Home Creative

    Rate This Board allows a billboard designer to rate a random piece of billboard artwork using the following scale: 1 (not good), 2 (below average), 3 (average), 4 (very good), 5 (great). Then the designer talks about what they may have done differently for outdoor advertising. This week’s rating is provided by Melody Roberts, an OBIE nominated billboard designer and founder of Out of Home Creative, an outdoor advertising design firm specializing in out of home design for businesses, agencies, media buyers and out of home companies. Melody has been in the outdoor industry since 1999. Insider uses and endorses her services.

    Rating 4 (very good)

    • I’m giving this a rating of 4 because it’s clean, easy to read and colors contrast well but honestly, I think the creative is dull.

     

    • This is GEICO… I would imagine they have the budget to do something really fun with their mascot using OOH advertising. I’m actually surprised they haven’t done something really out of the box like CFA (maybe they have and I haven’t seen it).

     

    • The gecko is perfect for extensions or 3D embellishments because we know how small it is so it would be a really cool juxtaposition to see the small gecko standing on top of the massive billboard structure, simulating walking on the catwalk or even placed on a beach chair with an umbrella sipping a drink to go along with this tagline (right now I’m focused on how the gecko is cut off on the Left).
