Rate This Board By Greg Callaham

Rate This Board allows a billboard designer to rate a random piece of billboard artwork using the following scale: 1 (not good), 2 (below average), 3 (average), 4 (very good), 5 (great). Then the designer talks about what they may have done differently for outdoor advertising. This week’s board is rated by Greg Callaham www.gregcallaham.com) who has 30 years of experience in outdoor advertising design.  Insider has used and endorses Callaham’s services.

Stranger Things

Rating: 4 (very good)

  • Not bad. Not bad at all.

  • I try to educate advertisers about red and black. It looks great on a computer screen, but there’s not enough contrast for red to pop off black on vinyl. That’s why we should never judge color for printed boards on screen. However, if you you’re using a well-known logo to cover the entire face of the billboard, there might be enough red to be legible even if it doesn’t pop.

  • The iconic four kids on bicycles as extensions is a very nice touch.
