State Legislator Opposes New Haven Digital Sign

Insider has previously written about the efforts of two New Haven, CT Alderman to oppose a 10 by 23 digital billboard which has been legally erected at 1057 Whalley Avenue and Emerson Street by Advertex.  Make sure you get both your state and local permit is the lesson from this story.   The New Haven Register reports that Connecticut State Representative Patricia Dillon is asking the Connecticut DOT to issue a stop work order.  The sign owner Advertex has not applied for a state permit.

Insider’s take:  Do your research and get your state permit before you start construction.  Many states require you to file for a state advertising permit once you’ve received your local permit.  Some states require a permit only along certain roads.  The state Department of Transportation usually enforces state advertising rules.
