Lamar and Pittsburgh in Billboard Dispute

pittsburgh sealLamar is in a dispute with the City of Pittsburgh over a billboard on Mount Washington.  Lamar owns the advertising space on Mount Washington where the old Bayer company billboard was located.  Lamar put vinyl up a 30 feet by 200 feet vinyl on the site last week.

The Pittsburgh Mayor says the billboard is unauthorized and unpermitted and is threatening to fine Lamar $1,000/day if the board isn’t taken down.  Lamar contends it is operating within its rights and that the location has been a legally permitted advertising sign for 70 years.  Lamar bought the sign, permits and land in 1999 from Chancellor Media.  You can read about the dispute at wtae.com and triblive.com.
